reForm Architects is not recruiting at the moment. However, we do retain a select number of CVs of interest for future reference and so anyone wishing to apply on this basis should send an illustrated CV to firstname.lastname@example.org
reForm Architects’ international team combines experience, commitment and innovation to offer a diverse range of clients a highly professional design led service.
We are friendly and approachable and see a close collaboration with our clients, design teams and contractors as an essential and enjoyable part of any project.
We do not adhere to an architectural style, which can often compromise a relevant design response. Instead reForm offers a contemporary and eclectic approach that treats problems as opportunities to deliver unique and elegant buildings and spaces.
Following a successful collaboration on a number of Award Winning projects in the Netherlands, reForm has established UK partnership with IAA Architecten enabling us to deliver a broader range and scale of projects for our UK Clients.
reForm believes that well-designed buildings and spaces are vital for successful and sustainable towns and communities. All good design must be functional, but it must also be humane and be well loved by its clients, users and the wider community. This benefits everyone and enriches our shared culture, and is only achievable if the needs and challenges of the client are fully understood from the outset.
Our approach is to consider each project and each Client’s needs as unique. We then adopt a rigorous but highly creative approach to bring out the maximum value in each specific circumstance. The right balance of financial, environmental, logistical, social and cultural value is achieved through our highly collaborative, ‘can do’ attitude.
The impact of design on the environment is greater than ever before, for better or worse. We now have the knowledge and capabilities to ensure that our design decisions have a positive impact, and help create a sustainable world.
reForm’s Managing Director, Nik Randall and the reForm team have extensive experience of designing housing, commercial, education and transport projects in the UK and Europe, winning numerous RIBA, Civic Trust, CABE and international awards.
Nik Randall trained at the University of Liverpool where he gained a First Class Bachelor of Architecture Honours Degree. In his final year he won both the Holford Award for the best written dissertation and the prestigious Reilly Medal awarded for the best Design. On graduation he travelled to Japan in order to pursue his interest in traditional Japanese architecture, working for the Antonin Raymond Studio in Tokyo.
Nik has taught at the University of Liverpool, and the University of Waterloo, Ontario, and has lectured widely. He was External Examiner at Manchester Metropolitan University from 2001-2004, and more recently as External Examiner at Leeds Metropolitan University. In 2005 he was invited to become an advisor to the Southwark Design Review Panel, which he now Chairs as a result of his commitment to architecture and the built environment. He has acted as a design competition advisor for bridges for the Royal Institute of British Architects, is a member of the Institute of Directors and is included in Debrett’s People of Today.
John studied and graduated in architecture at Liverpool University where he gained an interest and understanding in the value of design. Following three years travelling the world he returned to the UK to go into business, initially as a small company printing circuit boards for the electronics industry that progressed to sub-contract electronics manufacture for the UK market, with over 60 repeat and high profile clients and fifty staff.
In 2013, John identified the potential of an air sampling pump that is used in areas where asbestos contamination is a risk, particularly on building demolition and development. C-Tech has redesigned the product to improve its ease of use and reliability, and is preparing a worldwide launch under its new brand name, Airbox.
John’s experience of driving good design to improve products and company profitability, combines with his long standing interest in architecture to inform reForm’s business direction and success.
Harry Abels and Nik Randall, the Managing Directors of IAA Architecten and reForm Architects, have collaborated on several award winning projects together in the Netherlands for more than 15 years. UK clients can now benefit from this established partnership, with project teams carefully assembled to combine local knowledge with international expertise, sharing data and staff across offices.
With offices in London, Amsterdam and Enschede their combined resources of over 70 architects, interior designers, building managers, building technicians, engineers, landscape architects and urbanists have successfully delivered a number of joint education, housing, healthcare, hotels, leisure and transport projects.
Our design approach is one where ideas, from concepts to details, are explored through sketches, physical models, CAD drawings and BIM. Combining the inputs of the entire design team and contractor each BIM model is developed as a fully coordinated design tool, reducing problems both during and after construction.
With over 45 years of successful project delivery we provide a highly efficient and professional service for clients in the UK and Northern Europe.
Harry joined IAA Architecten from Witt & Van Well in 1994 becoming Managing Director of their Enschede office the following year. The company’s success led to him establishing a second office in Amsterdam in 2000 for which he has been Managing Director to the present day. He has increased the practice’s design reputation winning numerous awards for projects in all sectors from education to transport.
Having studied Human Geography at the University of Amsterdam, Harry qualified with a Bachelor of Engineering degree before also qualifying with a Master’s Degree in Architecture, both from Delft University of Technology. Harry’s technical expertise has led to a focus on Infrastructure and Medical projects. He has lectured widely on design for both sectors and was responsible for a Masterclass in evidence based design in intensive care units for the Berlage Institute in Rotterdam.
He founded the Architectural Centre Twente on 1999 acting as its Chairman for seven years before becoming an active member of its Board to the present day. He is also on the Board of the Faculty of Space and Design at Saxion College, and a Member of the Research Group of the Dutch Architects’ Organisation, BNA.
Prior to establishing reForm Architects Nik Randall was previously a Partner at Brookes Stacey Randall and was founder and Chairman of Space Craft Architects Limited.
Nik set up Space Craft Architects with his former Associates at Brookes Stacey Randall where he was a Partner for over ten years.
Following an amicable split of the Directors of Space Craft Architects, which had traded profitably and successfully for over a decade, Nik Randall founded reForm in order to explore new markets whilst maintaining his passion for innovation and his client focussed approach to design. Nik has brought his team from Space Craft, so there has been no break in the continuity of service to our Clients or in the Professional Indemnity Insurance cover which is being maintained by reForm Architects.
